27th November 2016: Christmas Lights switch on - The switch-on ceremony for the Christmas lights at the Town Hall, including the entertainment available before hand with performances from the Town Band, Ceara Fowkes and then Aoife Wall who are both JoG school students, and also from the choir of the Hungerford Primary School. There was also a very popular hot food stall and other food outlets.
The Guest of Honour for the switch on was local celebrity and recently retired top horse-racing jockey Sir A.P. McCoy, who was introduced and interviewed by the Mayor before counting down to the switch on. Invited guests attended a reception in the Corn Exchange afterwards - shots of Sir A.P. with the Mayor and other dignitaries including the Chairman of West Berks Council, Cllr Quentin Webb and the Mayor of Thatcham.
