You are in [Events] [Armed Forces Day]

Armed Forces Day (formerly Veterans' Day) in the United Kingdom is an annual event celebrated in late June to commemorate the service of men and women in the British Armed Forces. Veterans' Day was first observed in 2006. Although an official event, it is not a public holiday in the UK. The name was changed to Armed Forces Day in 2009. Armed Forces Day has so far been observed on the last Saturday of June.

In Hungerford, the march past is by 6 Battalion REME.

Armed Forces Day 30th June 2018: The day divided into three segments starting at 11:00 with the dedication of a Memorial Tree on the Common, with an army chaplain officiating. At 12:00 the main Parade started from the football ground before marching down the High St, where there were displays from various army units. The salute was taken by the High Sheriff of Berkshire, accompanied by the Constable, the Deputy Mayor, and the President of the RBL Hungerford Branch. The Parade was led by the Band of the Royal Logistics Corps who looked very distinguished in their dark braided uniforms and distinctive helmets. Proceedings were brought to a close with a BBQ event hosted by the army at the RBL club, during which a small wreath-laying ceremony was performed by the local dignitaries (with thanks to Tony Bartlett).
