You are in [Events] [Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee, 2022]
Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee took place across the United Kingdom between Thursday 2nd June and Sunday 5th June. There was extensive TV coverage of the Trooping the Colour Ceremony, the Lighting of the Beacons (both on Thursday), the Service of Thanksgiving at St. Paul's Cathedral (on Friday), the Platinum Jubilee Party at the Palace (on Saturday) and the Platinum Jubilee Pageant on Sunday.
In Hungerford there were many local events, including many street parties. The key town events were the Lighting of the Beacon on Thursday evening, and the Jubilee Tea Party in The Croft on Sunday.
Penny Post reported:
What a day Hungerford enjoyed on Sunday 5th June!
Mayor Helen Simpson says “Wow! What an incredible event. I couldn’t be more pleased with how this event went. And, my goodness – weren’t we lucky with the weather!
“The community really supported this event, I will do lots more in the way of thanks to all those who supported the event within the press. For now, I’d like to thank our dedicated committee for pulling off (in three months) something which took other towns a year to plan – a hugely successful Platinum Jubilee celebration. Hungerford, you make me so proud to serve as your Mayor.”
Thanks to Stuart March, Priscilla Howe, Barry Harding and Forbes Stephenson for the photos.
