Among Norman Hidden's papers was the following collection of notes on Pale Mead:
"(This must be the John of Gaunt site). 20 Oct 1675 by Richard Sharpe, John Stephens and Daniel Reade, who were declared in trust 21 Jan 1676. With this property were several plots of ground in the common fields."
