Mark Clements emailed the Virtual Museum (Jun 2015) with the following information:
"My Great Grandmother Alice Sarah Andrews born 1866 in Wilton, Great Bedwyn, Wiltshire, has an association with Hungerford in that as a 15 year old in the 1881 census she is shown living with Thomas Alexander (of Alexander's Grocers) and his family in Church Street, Hungerford.
Alice is shown as a nursemaid and looking after 3 Children 6 ,2, 1.
Jump forward 10 years to the 1891 census and she is still living aged 24 years as a nurse/domestic with the Alexander family, children now aged 16, 10, 9, 6, 4 and 2yrs.
Alice could obviously have stayed with the family in Hungerford for several years after that but the next time she appears in records is when she marries in 1899.
The photo of Alice Sarah is taken after 1903 as she is in the house she lived in Minai."
Ian Davidson emailed (Jun 2012) with the following:
George was married to Anne ?? and they had six children as follows:
- George - batchelor (an old rogue adored by his nephews - alleged to have squandered much of the family wealth!)
- Thomas - died young
- Annie Isobel (my grandmother) - two sons
- Agnes - married John McKerlie (vet) - two daughters
- Kate Eugenie - spinster
- Ethel Mary married Thomas 'Harry' Bishop (farmer) - two sons. I believe that they are all buried in Hungerford with the possible exception of Ethel who was quite a bit younger and the only one I knew. Uncle Harry was a tenant farmer near Petersfield.
- Annie was baptised in Hungerford Church on 29 October 1865.
- She and William were married in the church on 15 October 1895.
- She died in a 'home' (!) in Reading and was buried in Hungerford on 28 November 1928."
