John Newton (1937-2019) lived much of his life in Hungerford. He became a business man, property owner, and local historian. He was a Commoner and held most of the offices of the Town and Manor, including Constable in 1972.
John Newton's funeral was held on 21st June 2019 - and a number of steam engines and showman's engines were displayed to honour his contribution. See the pics (pdf) of the wake (with thanks to Tony Bartlett).
